Carbon Based Studio

Carbon Based Image Controller

Carbon Based Studio Image Controller gives you a unified workflow for uploads, intermediate sizes, and nextgen delivery. Generate WebP and AVIF into wp-content/cbs-nextgen/, scan coverage, bulk-regenerate thumbnails, resize on upload, and optionally convert TIFF uploads without juggling multiple plugins.

Settings live under Carbon Based > Image Controller, alongside other Carbon Based Studio plugins in the shared admin hub.

Key features

  • WebP & AVIF nextgen - optional rewrite rules for capable browsers; originals stay in place.
  • Conversion & thumbnail coverage scans - see gaps before you run bulk jobs.
  • Bulk regeneration - rebuild sizes and nextgen files in admin batches.
  • Disable unused image sizes  - reduce disk use on large libraries.
  • Upload resize - cap max width/height at upload time.
  • TIFF support - allow TIF/TIFF and convert to JPEG (Imagick required).

How it works

  1. Install from WordPress.org and activate the plugin.
  2. Open Carbon Based > Image Controller.
  3. Enable WebP/AVIF and quality on the NextGen tab.
  4. Run Conversion Coverage to find missing nextgen files.
  5. Bulk-generate and regenerate thumbnails as needed.
  6. Fine-tune upload limits and disabled sizes on other tabs.

Use cases

  • WooCommerce catalogs - smaller product galleries and faster category pages.
  • Media-heavy blogs - control intermediate sizes and remove unused thumbnails.
  • Migrations - scan after import, then bulk-regenerate to match new rules.
